​Rules & Guidelines

Part I:
We are glad to be able to provide space for you to have your event at the New Mexico State Capitol Building. We are looking forward working with your agency. We will make every effort to ensure that your time will be beneficial for you.  However, your cooperation is needed in following the State Capitol Building Capitol Rules and Guidelines:

APPLICABLE TO ALL RESERVABLE LOCATIONS:
The Legislative Building Services Dept. (LBS) reserves the right to approve ALL exhibits, signs, flags, banners, speakers and performances.

EAST & WEST HALLS OF HISTORY EXHIBITS/DISPLAYS:
Please do not attach signs or posters on walls, doors or podium. Your displays must be free-standing.  If signs or banners are needed in the rotunda, LBS will hang them from the railing for you during your reserved time.
Balloons, open flames, and dangerous materials are not permitted.

ROTUNDA:
Rotunda can be used for presentations, press conferences, entertainment, receptions or speakers.   Entertainment can only be scheduled in the rotunda 12pm to 1pm; all requests must be approved by the Legislative Building Services. All entertainment must respect State Capitol Building business. Event agenda must be submitted to the LBS office for approval. 

Political rallies, demonstrations, exhibit table(s) and signs are not permitted in the Rotunda or building.  
If presentations, press conferences, or entertainment disrupts capitol building business, entertainment will be stopped. Rotunda space is used for brief time slots such as press conferences, performances and receptions.  Most events will be subject to the one hour allotted time frame. 

The 90 chairs available will be reserved for use in Rotunda events ONLY!

OBAE is providing  a table, 2 chairs for each organization hosting a table.
Table presenters must bring their own extension cords etc., for exhibits or table presentations requiring electricity. Bring what you need to ensure that you have what you need.

EAST & WEST CONCOURSE (Outside):
Nothing can be attached or mounted to the building, landscaping or art work.  No spray paint or graffiti will be allowed.  Please no wax candles. No signs, banners, flags, handouts, balloons or picket signs, etc., are allowed in the building. 

MISC:
The Facilities Department does not provide extension cords

SALES:
SALE OF ITEMS IS NOT ALLOWED in any public areas of the state capitol building or capitol grounds. Please inform your exhibitors to avoid any inconveniences.  

BANNERS:
Please bring banners for rotunda railing before 8 am.

TAPE:
Nothing may be taped to the capitol building walls or floors.  

LOST OR STOLEN ITEMS:
NM state capitol building WILL not be responsible for personal items. However a lost and found is located at State Capitol Security Department.
